Vidalia

26 Aug

Tonight was so interesting that I just had to blog about it. My mom and my grandmother show up and just as they arrive, my grandmother uses the restroom and the water in the toilet comes back brown. We turn on the sink water and it is brown. Apparently, the city of Vidalia somehow broke the water line to the hotel at the fancy Quality Inn and were in the process of fixing it. My mother immediately wants to move to another hotel and ends up getting the last room at the Hampton Inn according to the corporate Hampton Inn number that she called. My grandmother is just having a great time and says that she hasn’t had a more interesting day like this in years!

Everything that could have possibly went wrong tonight did and thank goodness for late tee times. I have had two days like this during this summer and I just hope that it doesn’t become a regular occurance! My mom ended up leaving me at the Quality Inn because I wasn’t packing all of my belongings quick enough for her to race down to the Hampton Inn to make sure that the last room there was actually hers. It seemed that a lot of the other golfers that were downstairs complaining were trying to find a different hotel as well. I mean redish-brown water is just not something that you really want to mess with in south Georgia!

I call my mother because I realize she just left me at the hotel and she tells me that they are hungry and that Nana needs to eat soon. We end up going to the restaurant that I went to the night before and sitting at the same table. It is such a small world that the man sitting next to us has a home in St. Simons. After dinner I had to finish packing up the rest of my stuff to leave. It’s amazing how scattered my belongings can be in just a day! Plus I overstocked my room with food from grocery shopping and had several extra trips to the car.

We arrive at our new hotel that has very nice clear water.. head to the room and we can’t get the door open, so my mom goes to the front desk to get another key. My grandmother jokes and says I can’t wait to see what happens next! Haha we just laugh so hard. My mother comes back with a new key and STILL cannot get the door open. So I’m like please just go get the lady! She goes and gets the lady and basically we have to body slam our door to open it. We get settled in and Nana apparently can’t find some prescription pills she needs, my mom doesn’t have a toothbrush, it seems like the list just went on and on tonight.

My grandmother says “boy, is this how your life is?” .. actually, sometimes yes. I travel so much that I know something during my week is probably not going to go as planned, and that is ok.. it’s usually a fun adventure and something we can all laugh about during and after the events occur.

Some mixed scoring last week but a good finishing position. Welcome back to Europe and good luck in Austria. We are going out to Campo Real in 11 days time for a two-week break – looking forward to that.
