LPGA Futures Tour Southern Swing

24 Aug

Hey Everyone,

Well my travels are picking back up again and I am back on the road!

I love being in the South and I loved being in Richmond a few weeks ago. What an awesome week that was; being there just feels like home to me. Plus it’s a really cool city. My friend Jeff, who caddied for me for the week, got us out at a course called Kinloch on Wednesday. It was just fun to slip away from the tournament and play with him and have a relaxing day. We could not have asked for more perfect weather and I ended up shooting a 68!  Playing out there gave me a lot of confidence going into the weekend and I just knew that I was going to have a great tournament. Well, I didn’t, but it was nice to see a lot of friends on tour that I have not seen in a while. It seemed like everyone was asking me about where I had been. I randomly played golf with a this guy  at Country Club of Virginia on Friday after I had finished my round. This is one reason I love playing golf, because I love meeting new people. His brother just started a clothing company called PAHR, so check it out! I have one of their shirts and I love it.. it is actually long enough and has a great fit: www.pahrgolf.com

On my week off I got a putting lesson that a friend had set up for me and I feel like my putting is starting to shape up. It seems that I take bits and pieces from several people that have helped me out and mesh it all together. One day I just know it is going to click and that’s when it is going to get scary fun.

Yesterday I played in a scramble at Brunswick Country Club, which is a course where I live, and we shot 20 under and placed 3rd! We pared our last hole, unfortunately to lose by one stroke! BCC is a fantastic Donald Ross golf course built in 1920. It has those classic mushroom-shaped greens and they are smaller than today’s average greens.  Davis Love III grew up playing that course and his father used to tell him that if he could play there he could play anywhere. BCC also has the best fried chicken in town!! One of the guys that I played with used to play on mini tours for a long time and I think that he might try out for the senior tour. He is probably one of the better players in my county that is not professional. Anyways, he used to have a lot of putting problems and he gave me a few tips as well to help me. So yet again, I am feeling excited about my putting!

This Week I am in Vidalia, Georgia. It is only two hours from my house, so it was just a jump shot away! I have actually never played golf in Vidalia, but I am happy to be playing a professional event in my home state. There are so many awesome golf courses in Georgia and I like it when they are shown off. Speaking of that.. the PGA tour will have it’s second annual McGladery Classic on one of my home courses, Seaside at Sea Island Golf Club, the second weekend of October. So watch for the tournament on television so you can see where I am from!

I am looking forward to a great week this week, I have been kind of stressed because this tournament is over on Sunday and then I will leave Monday afternoon to fly to Europe for 6 weeks. I have been busy trying to make sure all of my ducks are in a row and all my flights are set up appropriately. I am also very excited that this trip I will be able to go and visit my cousin who lives in Nice, France.

I tee off at 1:50 on Friday and I am happy that my family will be coming to watch. My mom rarely gets to come to golf tournaments and I am hoping that she will bring my 90 year old grandmother as well. The last and only time my grandmother was at a golf tournament she squealed when I made this long putt to win my first college tournament.. it was hilarious!

      Lindsey,
I am glad that you are going to be able to spend some time back on Sea Island. I wish I was there so we could play golf, but in the fall we can when the weather is much cooler! I hope that Irene doesn’t affect you guys too much, but honestly nobody knows where that thing is headed right now! Take care and I hope to see you guys soon.
Thanks for keeping up with me!
